Elham Gardening Society

Welcome from the Chairman

It’s a privilege to be the Chairman of the Elham Gardening Society.

We are a very active society and welcome anyone wishing to join us. Our meetings take place on the third Thursday of each month in St Mary’s Church Hall at 7.30pm; you won’t feel out of place and you can join there.

None of us feel we are super efficient gardeners – we just like doing it, mistakes and all!

We have major garden visits each year e.g. Kew, Wisley, and Hampton Court. Anyone is welcome to come along even if you are not yet a member. Just ring Doug T: 01303 840276 for any of the advertised visits.

We have now established a four day annual tour in June to visit a series of gardens in various regions. The 2012 tour will be to Norfolk – places are full for this year but watch this space for next year!

We have a spring show in April and our main annual show in July which usually attracts many compliments from our judges. Entrants increase year on year. Classes range from the now famous “Potato in a Bucket” to “Art and Photography”. There are 100 different classes to chose from, so there should be something for everyone – why not try your luck! Our Schedules and entry forms are published on this site when available (see our “Notice Board” section) – and are also available from Browns estate agents near the show dates.

Another opportunity to meet us is at our open gardens weekend. This starts on Saturday 16/17 June in 2012 and is in aid of the National Gardens Scheme. Look us up in the Yellow NGS book. Lunches will be available at the Kings Arms in the Square.

We will be visiting Hampton Court on Thursday the 5th July 2012 so do look at our Notice Board for further details of this and other events.

Our full programme of events can be found on this website – check it regularly for updates!
